Dunkin Donuts, now Dunkin’, is a very popular spot for Americans to get their coffee every morning. With many options from espressos, lattes, teas, and of course donuts, not many people realize when a new drink is added. On September 12, however, Dunkin’ released a commercial starring Ben Affleck and the popular singer Ice Spice announcing the Ice Spice MUNCHKINS drink.
Ice Spic rose to fame in November 2022 when she was featured in “Boy’s a Liar Pt. 2”, composed by PinkPantheress.
Ice Spice has promoted this drink on Instagram as well as acting in various commercials. In a YouTube video posted on September 12, Affleck and Spice talked about what they would call her drink. “I’m a Dunkin’ girl,” Spice said.
Released on September 13, the MUNCHKINS drink hit the stores replacing the “pumpkin spice season”. The name comes from what Ice Spice calls her fans, “munchkins.” With only being available for a limited amount of time, from September 13 – October 31, Ice Spice fans should be honored to be fortunate enough to try the drink.
The MUNCHKINS drink is not exactly the healthiest drink out there, but that does not mean you should not try it. With a high count of 1080 calories (about 86 minutes of running) and 393 mg of caffeine, it will surely wake you up in the morning. The medium and small sizes contain 295 mg and 196 mg of caffeine, respectively.
You get eight pumps of cane sugar, four donut holes, caramel drizzle, and some whipped cream for $5.38. These ingredients made it a risky purchase for your health. The drink started to fall apart after about an hour, turning into a mushy mess.
After a while, the whipped cream faded, and after the drink started to melt, the pumpkin became even more strong. I thought the drink had way too much pumpkin flavor. You couldn’t taste any other ingredients. The vanilla disappeared after the first sip, and the donut holes made the drink very thick in texture.
I would rate the drink a ⅗ on taste because the pumpkin was strong. Also, the texture was way too thick and would barely get through the straw, earning a ⅖. The caramel was a nice touch taking the flavor to a respectable ⅘. The whipped cream topping sold the deal on the looks. The drink is absolutely beautiful on the counter. I wouldn’t give this anything below a 5/5.
Although the drink looked beautiful, the drink would probably earn an overall 3.5/5. This mildly harsh rating was a culmination of its beautiful looks, thick texture, and its intense pumpkin taste.
Ice Spice’s drink has added a new option to the traditional pumpkin spice latte. Making a collab with Dunkin’ has been a surprisingly good team up. I hope Dunkin’ and Ice Spice do more collabs in the future.
