This year, teachers have noticed the Knights plagued with a fried attention span and a lack of desire to do anything except play Clash Royale. Students have reported withdrawal-like symptoms such as uncontrollable shakiness and anxiety.
According to a student survey, approximately 4 in every 10 students have already been infected, with numbers rapidly increasing. Teachers and faculty are looking to find a stop to this disease, while not getting infected themselves.
Junior Patrick Barnes said, “I have recently converted to Clash from doomscrolling [chronically scrolling on social media without purpose]. Clash is certainly the best way to live your life…It is the best waste of time I can think of. If you are not playing now, you are missing out.”
Students are so consumed in Clash Royale that they do not care about the consequences of their actions. After getting a demerit in study hall for not getting off the game, junior Gavin Torczon said, “It was well worth it, I had to get the win.” Torczon tries to start every day with a Clash win.
Students have had violent outbursts after losing Clash Royale games such as slamming their hand on a desk and shouting out in anger. If you see an outburst like this, please contact either the local authority or a person in power at The Mount. Art teacher Mr. Luke Ervin, who has seen these first-hand while playing piano in choir class and study hall, said “Fortunately the students have gotten much better. Over the course of the last month, they have been much calmer.”
When the long awaited 3:24 bell finally rings, the epidemic spikes. There is a 40% increase in the infected and student’s urges increase. They lack all sense of ability to do anything, and some even go wild. In the dorms, students are seen acting like “zombies” with no will to live if they are not playing the game.
Sophomore Leo Sheridan insists, “I am not addicted. Clash Royale is just a lifestyle.” The game has completely taken over his ability to think. Sheridan said, “I am always thinking of the game… I could not imagine a life without Clash.”
