Q: How did you start doing the donuts for the school in the mornings?
A: “Mrs. Rodgers had a sign-up genius, and I just said I would be willing to go pick him up every week, and then she asked me if I just wanted to start doing it weekly, and so I’ve been doing it ever since. Like, I think it was Ethan’s [Moline ‘25] freshman year. So it’s been like four or five years. And then when I got Gigi, I started bringing her.”
Q:How do you think the students interact with you and Gigi?
A: “Yes, it’s really nice. It’s given me an opportunity to get to know each student better, but I’m really bad at remembering names.”
(Interruption from student purchasing donut)
Mrs. Moline: “How are you?”
Student: “Good, how are you?”
Q: Do you think this is something you’re going to keep doing for a while?
A: “I’ll probably continue doing it through Liam’s senior year.”
Q: How do you think it builds community at Mount Michael?
A: “I think Mount Michael is such a tight-knit community as it is, but I think by me volunteering here allows me to help build a community and get to know all the students.”
Q:What’s your favorite memory during this?
A: “My favorite memory is probably during Christmas time when we give away donuts to all the kids for Christmas. That is my favorite memory.”
