Mount Michael has many traditions behind its name, and one of the lesser known ones is the achievement of Power Knight and Elite Knight. These challenges presents the competitor with a series of lifts including bench press, squat, and deadlift. The requirements for each of the achievements vary with Power Knight being the easier one and Elite Knight being the more difficult one.
For Power Knight, the requirements include one set of five reps on bench at 100 percent bodyweight, and one set of five reps on squat and deadlift at 125 percent. For Elite Knight, the requirements include one set of 10 reps on bench at 100 percent bodyweight, and one set of five reps on squat and deadlift at 150 percent bodyweight.
Junior Bradley Carstenson, who has reached the achievement of Power Knight, said, “I believe that both of the achievements are balanced and difficult enough, but not too difficult that they are impossible to attain. However, I think that Elite Knight is a bit too easy and the gap between each of them is a bit too small. The reps are fine, but the weight should be increased.”
In recent years, it seems that these achievements have been increasingly under appreciated, not because of the lack of magnificence, but simply because of the lack awareness about the achievements. If you are feeling up to it, these challenges await.
