Bookstore Changes Delight Students and Staff

Max Vossen ’22 purchases a deck of cards from the new bookstore manager Shelly Rodgers.

In the Summer of 2020, Shelly Rodgers became the bookstore manager and made an immediate impact on Mount Michael. People promptly noticed the many practical changes that she made.

“There have been tremendous improvements to how everything is handled,” Matt Adam ‘24 said.  “The bookstore now has almost everything a student could need.”

The ease of access and communication has been the pinnacle for why students continue to love the new style for the bookstore. Andrew Busenbark ‘24, who visits the store once or twice a week, is an example of a student who values easy access.

“I think it is good that you can get in contact with her,” he said.

More sales results in more revenue for the school, bringing in even more likable items that are available for purchase. The most popular snacks and drinks are recognized and continue to return to the shelves. Several snacks in high demand include 12-ounce sodas, Little Debbie Zebra Cakes, and Trolli Sour Brite Crawlers.

Another student favorite is Krispy Kreme donuts on Thursdays. Every Thursday morning, volunteer delivery drivers bring in several boxes of donuts which are then purchased by students throughout the day. All proceeds are donated to this year’s Fall Festival.

“Krispy Kreme Thursdays are a great way to raise money, and you can’t beat the donuts,” Adam said.

Mrs. Rodgers has made the bookstore an enjoyable experience and the student body and the staff definitely appreciate her hard work.

“I had visited the bookstore several times before the transition, and it was nothing like this,” Tselentis said. “I admire the changes that have been made and look forward to what else is to come.”
